Weaving Nature: Contemporary Baskets
May 2 – June 3
BAC presents baskets as woven sculpture. Our basket artists use a wide variety of materials, and bring a contemporary point of view to traditional techniques. Melinda West has studied with Native American weavers, including the renowned Ed Carriere of the Suquamish Tribe. Bill Roeder has studied with German basketmakers. Judith Zugish uses only plant materials that she grows and prepares herself; Sue Skelly concentrates on Western Red Cedar; Dorothy McGuinness weaves watercolor paper.
Artists include Joan Carrigan, Donna Sakamoto Crispin, Dorothy M. McGuinness, Bill Roeder, Janet Ronacher, Sue Skelly, Melinda Joy West, and guest curator Judith Zugish.
